Eliminate Worry

Do you want to worry less?  Worrying is useless and it does not solve any problems.  It has a negative impact on your happiness and health.  It’s time to get control over your worries.  Do this simple exercise to help you stop worrying!

Can you think of a time when worrying about a problem or a situation had a positive impact on the situation?  Worry will never help create a positive outcome to a situation or problem.  So why do we worry and how can we stop worrying?

A quote form Mark Twain sheds some light when it comes to worry and what research says.

“I am an old man and I have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened”

Let’s look at the research tells us about worry:

  • 40% of our worries never happen– so why worry?
  • 30% of our worries have already happened. You can’t change the past so learn to “let go” by forgiving yourself and others.
  • 12% are needless worries, such as what someone else thinks about us.
  • 10% are worries about our health and worrying has a negative impact on our health.
  • 8% of what we worry about will actually happen.. Of that 8% only 4% of those worries are things we can control.  The other 4% are out of our control, and once again, how can worry help?

Worry has a high cost to our health and happiness, is useless, never solves a problem,  and never lifts a burden.

Make a list of all your worries.  After you list them put a yes if you can impact the outcome and a no if you cannot.  If you can control the situation or problem make a list of the things you can do.

Additionally:  Make a list of your blessings and those things you are thankful for.  By doing so, that will also help to reduce your worry, by focusing on the positive!
